This week, I was on a dire need of reading something on the internet in Korean. Unfortunately, when I went to that site, It could only show blocks and blocks, and so many of blocks.

Matrix as Seen In The East

I knew that to make the blocks changed to Hangul (Korean characters), I had to make sure that the Language bar in Windows changed to Korean.

So, because I am faithfully still on XP, I couldn’t change as simple as my friend with 7 (only right-clicking Windows Toolbar and change the language to Korean), Linux (all languages installed before hand), or Mac (how does it work on Mac again?).

So, how to do that? Follow this simple instruction.

1. Go to Control Panel (You do know where is it, don’t you?)
2. Click Regional and Language Options
3. Choose Languages tab
4. At “Supplemental Language Support”, tick Install Files for East Asian Languages
5. Click Apply

That far, if you have all the file that it need to make the fonts work, is the finish line. If you don’t have the files but still have your installation CD, you still need one step more, installing the files from your CD, of course. The last and the one that make the most of work, is, when you don’t have the CD.

I didn’t have the CD, so I had to install the file one by one. I was diligently searching for the files needed on the internet and installing them one in a time, and of course, I was so tired. After searching online, I knew that the files needed are

Like hell, so many files to download. I know that they are so small, 500 kB at most, but searching, clicking, and downloading that many files is so tiring.  I had tried to search anybody who kind enough to give all the package, but there are almost none. They had said to search the files and install them by myself.

After all the diligent searching, I’d found the zip file needed for installing that list of files, just go here and point out the folder when Windows asking about the files.

After that, you have successfully installed the East Asian Language Pack, your computer will reboot, and you can make sure that it works by seeing the language bar and viewing web page in Katakana, Hiragana, Kanji, Chinese Characters, or Hangul.

If you want to read other language like Arabic, Hindi, or Thai, you must tick the other option in the Languages bar before, and install these files
